The cricketing trends on social media today revolved around Mohammad Shahzad’s exceptional ODI ton against India in the ongoing Asia Cup. He took the toll on the fast bowlers especially and the light work of run-scoring. He reached his fifth ton in the ODIs only in 88 deliveries and was eventually dismissed for 123 runs and single-handedly propelled Afghanistan’s score to 252 runs after 50 overs. The Indian cricket experts were in his awe for managing to bat that long.

Meanwhile, everyone was shocked to see MS Dhoni walk out for the toss earlier in the day. He was back to leading the side after a long time in the ODIs as India decided to rest their designated captain and vice-captain of the tournament. This was his 200th ODI game as the captain and the cricketing fraternity loved it. His captaincy traits once again came to the fore on the field today.

The day was also remembered for Virat Kohli receiving India’s highest sporting honour Khel Ratna award from India’s President Ram Nath Kovind. The cricketers were also busy congratulating him amidst all the action on the field. Mushfiqur Rahim crossed 5000 ODI runs in his last game and hoped that the runs continue to flow in his career. He will out on the field for the must-win game against Pakistan on Wednesday.
