The cricketing trends on social media today revolved around the Indian contingent’s performance in the Asian Games and the Test match between India and England. The Indian cricketers were really happy with the show the Indian athletes have put up in Jakarta. India added a lot of medals to its kitty today as Jinson Johnson won the 12th Gold medal for the country in Men’s 1500 m run in the finals. But there was a heartbreak in Hockey with India losing in the semifinals to Malaysia.
Meanwhile, the fourth Test match began between India and England in Southampton. Beautiful pitch and sunny conditions welcomed both the teams as the hosts won the toss and opted to bat first. But what followed was an abject surrender from their batsmen. The likes of Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah bowled superbly and didn’t give them any chance to score runs. They also rattled the top-order and rocked England early at lunch as they were struggling at 57/4.
The former Indian cricketers were all praise of the bowlers for keeping it tight in good conditions to bat on. England cricketers, on the other hand, were criticised badly by their former players. Kevin Pietersen, Michael Vaughan and Nick Compton were not at all happy with the way the batsmen got out. Rohit Sharma, however, was busy in a shoot with his wife Ritika Sajdeh and posted an adorable picture on his official Twitter handle.

8. Vaughan lauds Kohli’s captaincy
Brilliant captaincy … Put Mid off to another catcher to open up more space to score and it creates the chance .. Great catch to follow it up … #ENGvIND

9. Compton wants Cook to bat at 3
We need a new opening pair who can begin their careers at an equal stage. Ie. They won’t have the poisoned chalice of being Cooks unproven partner hanging over them. Cook has the experience to bat 3, it’s about progression not just staying where you are! Cook at 3 and Root 4!

Top session for India. One of the finest utilisation of the new ball in recent times. Had Buttler ‘s catch been taken would have been even better, but Eng 57/4 at Lunch is truly India’s session #ENGvsIND
