IPL 2025, RCB vs CSK: What will happen if Match 52 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru is washed out?
The Pre-Monsoon rains in Bengaluru could affect the 52nd match of the IPL 2025 between RCB and CSK
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be up against each other in the 52nd match of the IPL 2025. The two teams will face each other at the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on May 2. However, the arch-rivalry contest might face a major hurdle in the form of the pre-monsoon showers in the Garden City.
Unlike other major cities, Bengaluru does not just experience sunny days in summer, but also pleasant Pre-monsoon rains due to the small gap in the Western Ghats mountain ranges. M Chinnaswamy Stadium, which is in the central part of the city, has experienced heavy rains in the evening in the last few days. The city's frequency of experiencing rain was one of the reasons why the Sub-Air system was installed with an improved drainage system.

Thanks to the special technology, the chances of the match getting washed out are not too high. Even if a heavy rain occurs before it stops, the Sub-Air system at the venue can drain the water quicker than any stadium in the country. The 200-horsepower machine developed by US-based Sub-Air can clear a whopping 10,000 litres of water per minute.
RCB vs CSK: What will happen if the match is washed out?
The pre-monsoon winds from the Arabian Sea cause cloud coverage in Bengaluru, which brings rains in the city after a hot, sunny day. These rains often shower the city for a few hours, and sometimes even for a longer period. Bengaluru's altitude makes it prone to rain, and there is a good chance of it affecting the match between CSK and RCB in the IPL 2025.
The Pre-monsoon winds have been responsible for the Bengaluru rains in the last few days. As per the Weather prediction, there is a 75% chance of rain affecting the match between the arch-nemesis. The pace of the showers could slow down after 8:30 PM, which would ideally call for a delayed start to the match, and even some overs may be lost.
In case of a complete washout, both CSK and RCB will share a point each. Since it is a match in the Group Stage, there is no reserve day.
How will a washout affect RCB's Playoff scenarios in the IPL 2025?
RCB have won 4 of their last 5 matches and are in a purple patch, along with MI. They are one of the favorites to finish the group stage in the first two positions. If the match gets washed out, RCB will get a maximum of one point, despite being the favorites to win the match at home.
On the other hand, CSK, who have already been knocked out of the tournament, have little to nothing to do with the match. It could be a disappointing result for RCB, as they could potentially lose a point they could have won by beating a mediocre CSK team.
