CSK will be back and with a bang in IPL 2018, affirms N Srinivasan

The owner of one of the most ignominious franchise in world cricket, N Srinivasan of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), went on to state vehemently about the return of his side in the next edition of IPL. While addressing the audience at the Madras Advertising Club’s annual award function, Srinivasan optimistically predicted about the chances of their inspiration leader Mahendra Singh Dhoni wearing the yellow jersey yet again and representing their team.

Earlier in 2015, The Lodha Committee passed a judgement where both Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Superkings were relegated from the league for two years. The judgement arrived in the aftermath of 2013 betting scandal in which the son-in-law of Srinivasan and team principal of CSK, Gurunath Meiyyapan, was accused of substantial involvement.

“M.S. Dhoni, wearing yellow and leading the CSK team onto the ground. Come 2018, there is every possibility of it happening. We will be back with a bang”, said Srini as iterated by Sportstar Live. While dismissing any criticism against the players, he stated “You can accuse anybody of anything but you can’t accuse a single player. They just played. It was just pure jealousy.”

Former ICC and BCCI President attracted the limelight for all the wrong reasons, past couple of years. Srini was asked to step down from these sought after positions owing to a conflict of interest. Srinivasan remained adamant about the success of CSK brand and how the allegation and controversies have not tarnished the franchise’s image. The Chairman of Indian Cements and Tamil Nadu Cricket Association also boasted about the success of TNPL and the impact it had on Deodhar Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Having said that, this statement grants a sigh of relief to the CSK fans, who would love to see the likes of Dhoni, Bravo, Raina, Du Plessis and Ashwin back wearing the yellow jersey.
