Indian Test wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha recently stated that the team which have better all-rounders in their line-up hold an edge over the others in this form of the game. Saha also backed the Indian team to come out triumphant against their arch-rivals Pakistan on 4th of June at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Indians have a variety of all-rounders by the names of Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. Also, Kedar Jadhav, Yuvraj Singh and Rohit Sharma are capable enough to provide some relaxation to Kohli by chipping in with a couple of overs here and there.

However, looking at the form of Indian bowlers prior to the tournament, including IPL and the warm-up matches, one might think that the use of part-timers might be redundant as Mohammad Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umesh Yadav have all looked unplayable at times.

Chronicles of Saha this season

Wriddhiman Saha recently featured in Mohan Bagan’s victory over Tapan Memorial Club in a low-scoring affair at Cricket Association of Bengal’s (CAB) senior knockout tournament final. Saha has been an integral part of Kings XI’s setup since he was relieved by the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Before that, Saha was a quintessential component in India’s dream stint at the grand home season of Test matches. He stitched a heroic partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara to save the match at Ranchi against Australia with a quality ton. After a gruelling season, Saha is now planning a vacation to Kashmir with family. However, the wicket-keeper batsman hopes to catch live action from Kashmir and will support the men in blue.

“The team that has the best all-rounders will have an edge. India is obviously my pick and they have been playing really well. I will try to watch India-Pakistan on Sunday from Kashmir, India on the current form have the edge over Pakistan, I feel.” quoted Saha on the sidelines during the finals of the tournament according to Business Standard.
