Irfan Pathan had all the ingredients to turn into one of the greatest all-rounders India have ever produced. He made his debut on the Australia tour back in 2003-04 and impressed one and all with his oomph and enthusiasm. The left-arm fast bowler ran in with venom and ruffled a few feathers, though he was known more for his swing bowling that sheer pace.

He also became the second Indian bowler to pick up a hat-trick in Test cricket when he accomplished the feat against Pakistan. The southpaw went on to become the Player of the Match in the final of the 2007 T20 World Cup against Pakistan at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. However, from there on, he started to find it tough to cement his place into the Indian team.

Irfan Pathan- a valuable player

In Test, ODI and T20I cricket, the Baroda-born churned out 100, 173 and 28 wickets respectively. He was also a successful lot for the Men in Blue with the bat in hand. He batted at number three quite a few positions and churned out some useful knocks. In 2012, he last donned the national jersey. He also left his domestic team Baroda and joined the Jammu and Kashmir team.

He played for them a couple of seasons as well. Earlier this year in January, he hung his boots from the highest level. Recently, reports also emerged that he is among the probables to play in the inaugural Lanka Premier League. However, nothing concrete has come to the fore as of yet.

In the meantime, in the coronavirus pandemic, Irfan has been pretty active on the social media platforms. He has been spending time at home with brother Yusuf Pathan and son, Imran Khan Pathan. Back in December 20, 2016, Irfan became father to the baby boy.

The 35-year-old uploaded a picture with his son and said how blessed he is to have a kid. The veteran captioned the picture and wrote, “Have a blessed Friday everyone. @imrankpathan_official #jummahmubarak #friday #love #throwback.”
