Team India suffered heartbreak after losing the Gold Medal match at the hands of Australia Women in the T20 competition played at the 2022 Commonwealth Games (CWG). The Women in Blue had the match in their grasp, but they lost a lot of wickets during the ending phase of their chase and lost the match by just nine runs.

Batting first, team Australia was off to a flying start and looked like they will cross the 180-run mark in their allotted 20 overs but some brilliant piece of bowling from Sneh Rana, Renuka Singh, and Radha Yadav ensured that the Women in Blue make a strong comeback in the match. Apart from giving her contribution with the ball, Radha was also excellent on the field as she produced a magical moment to send Australia skipper Meg Lanning back to the pavilion.

It was the first ball of the 11th over when batter Beth Mooney played a fullish delivery straight towards Radha with skipper Lanning backing up too much towards the non-striker’s end. However, the bowler was quick to react as she stopped the ball and produced an underarm throw that had the Australia skipper falling short of her crease by inches.

Radha continued her brilliance in the field in the next over as well. As spinner Deepti Sharma bowled to Tahlia McGrath, the batter went for a cut shot but did not bother to keep the ball down. Radha who was stationed at the backward point region dived to her left and grabbed a stunner.

Australia after losing back-to-back wickets lost the momentum and could only manage to score 161 runs in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur played an excellent knock of 65 runs but could not win the game for her side as team India was restricted to just 152/10 in 19.3 overs and lost the match by nine runs. ,
