Darren Sammy all set to grace his presence in the Global Canada T20

Darren Sammy is one of the most popular cricketers, especially in the T20 format. He has plied his trade across domestic T20 tournaments around the globe and has a significant amount of fandom. Though he has been out of the Windies team from 2016 onwards, he hasn’t been out of action. His last competitive match was during the Pakistan Super League, playing for the Peshawar Zalmi.

He led the team with authority and took them to the Final of the T20 event versus Islamabad United. His next assignment will be the Global Canada T20 League where he will represent the Toronto Nationals, which also consists of the likes of Steve Smith, Kamran Akmal and his Windies teammates in the form of Kieron Pollard, Johnson Charles, and Kesrick Williams.

Prior to the start of the event, he posed with the Nationals’ jersey and shared some pictures on the social media. He took to Twitter and uploaded the photos with a message which read, “Posing every possible angle. Toronto Here I come. @darensammy88 #6sInThe6ix #GT20Canada”

The first match of the event will be played on June 28 between the Toronto Nationals and the Vancouver Knights at the Maple Leaf North-West Ground in King City. Sammy’s opposition team consists of several prominent names like that of Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Evin Lewis, Tim Southee and others. A total of 22 matches will be played between six teams.

The Final will be contested on July 15 at the same venue. Two rounds of games will take place after which the event moves into the playoffs followed by the Final. Previously, there were apprehensions surrounding the hosting of the event as there were no contract and schedule. However, the authorities have managed to put everything in place.
