Australia opener David Warner and his teammate, fast bowler Mitchell Starc had a friendly Twitter banter today. It all started with David Warner questioning the legitimacy of the Gold bat that Gayle used in today’s encounter between Brisbane Heats and Melbourne Renegades.
David Warner tweeted, “They banned carbon on the Kookaburra but one can use a gold bat ha-ha. #explain he hits them far enough. We want 6er.”
Warner’s words looked as if there was some injustice done to him. Mitchell Starc was quick to point out that his bat should be banned too. It was a voice of fast bowler who disliked seeing these bats around and felt that it was unfair on the bowlers.
Starc tweeted in reply, “@davidwarner31 the size of your bats should be banned too Bull! #batsmansgame #BBL05.
Warner apparently has one the thickest bats among cricketers at the moment. Most recently, South African legend Barry Richards was pictured comparing the bat he used in the 70s and the one currently used by David Warner. And, obviously, he was dumbstruck by the size and voiced his concerned in regards to the bat technology currently being used.
“It’s just unrecognizable as a weapon. The only thing that seems to be in common is they’ve got wood and they’ve got a grip. I have a problem with the injuries from the bats. I really think there’s going to be some serious injury. The balls are just pinging off these bats so fast. I think they can get bigger and bigger until somebody gets injured.” Barry Richards said, comparing his bat to the ones being currently used to play with.
