David Warner has been one of Australia’s most destructive opening batsman in all formats of the game. However, the last few months haven’t been joyous for the left-handed batsman as he had to face the wrath of suspension of a year owing to his involvement in the infamous ball-tampering scandal back in March. He along with Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft was slapped with punishments.

Warner attended a press conference following his ban by Cricket Australia (CA) where he broke down and mentioned that he may not don the Australian jersey in the future. Nevertheless, his tumultuous times seem to have calmed down somewhat as the Aussie will be seen in action very soon in the inaugural edition of the Global T20 tournament in Canada.

Warner’s chance of redemption?

He was drafted in by the Winnipeg Hawks and will play alongside the likes of Dwayne Bravo, Lendl Simmons, Fidel Edwards and Darren Bravo. The team has former legendary Pakistani cricketer in Waqar Younis as the coach. Meanwhile, Smith will ply his trade for Toronto Nationals, which boasts of the likes of Darren Sammy, Kieron Pollard and Kesrick Williams in their ranks.

The squads have been announced today and with five formidable teams, the tournament is expected to be a cracker-jack of an extravaganza. The event will see the daylight on June 28. Warner has already pulled up his socks and started preparing hard for the T20 league. The 31-year old tainted player practised with his New South Wales-mates.

He posted a picture on Instagram where he has been seen sweating it out with the likes of Peter Neville and Steve O’Keefe. Warner also expressed his delighted of being back with his domestic teammates. He uploaded the photo with a heartfelt message.

“Great to get back into it today with @cricketnsw was awesome to be in and amongst the lads. First up 2km @peternevill @stephen_okeefe”
