David Warner, known for his aggressive-style left-handed batting, smashed his 21st century in the fourth Ashes Test match. His hundred at the MCG came off just 130 deliveries that included 13 fours and a six. With this hundred, Warner surpassed Kohli’s tally of 20 hundreds and in now in the list of top-10 players with most hundreds for Australia. He also became the 14th Australian to complete 6,000 runs in the longest format.

Warner has been one of the most trusted players for Australia over the years. His ability to rock the opposition in early sessions is envied by most of the other teams. His change in attitude towards the game has helped in to become a better player in all formats of the game. He also features in Test XI of the year for 2017.

Warner survives

“The Reverend” played fluent innings except for the blunder he made when he was batting at 99. Warner had top-edged a Tom Curran delivery, who was on his debut. He was caught at mid-on and started walking back towards the dressing room. However, he was asked to wait by the umpires who checked for the no-ball. Much to the dismay of the Englishmen, Curran had overstepped and had provided a life to the livid Warner.

Warner did not make the most of the opportunity as he edged another one to the keeper at 103. It was Anderson this time and Tom Curran would have been the most relieved man on the field. Warner has taken a liking to the MCG as he averages 46 and this was his consecutive hundred at the venue. He celebrated the hindered with the customary “punch in the air.”

Australia are all set to make a big score in the first innings again and England’s hopes of a consolation win appear bleak. The senior players have failed to step up which has led to the team’s downfall. Steve Smith is in red-hot form while his counterpart has had a series to forget.
