Dehradun International Cricket Stadium all set to make international debut

The stadium will soon witness international players battle it out in the middle.

India is a country where people love to play and watch cricket. Every nook and corner of the street is filled with kids playing the game. The country has some of the most talents players of the game and has been doing very well in the last few years. The BCCI is one of the richest sports body in the world and it is inclined towards the growth and development of the game in the subcontinent. It tries to improve facilities at lesser-known areas to promote the game and bring in more audience towards the stadiums.

The cricket frenzy nation boasts of some of the most iconic cricket stadiums in the world. The Dehradun International Cricket Stadium is the latest addition to the list of stadiums in India. The facility was inaugurated on the 26th of May by the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat. The experts from the International Cricket Council visited the stadium to have a look at the standards for player’s amenities, media and broadcast requirements. The team gave a green signal to the stadium and it can now host all three formats of the game.

Let the ball roll

The stadium is located in the capital of Uttarakhand against a scenic backdrop. It has a seating capacity of 25000 and the stadium creates a 21st-century fan experience. The facility has state-of-the-art amenities including restaurants, retail, banquet halls and conference rooms to provide the spectators with an interactive viewing experience of the game. It was designed by Collage Design which is one of India’s leading sports infrastructure consultants. The stadium is India’s first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold standard sporting arena.

“It’s a complex and challenging process involving multiple stakeholders to conceptualize and develop modern sports facilities. It has been an immensely fulfilling journey with the State Government of Uttarakhand to realise their vision of creating a world-class facility that would serve as a benchmark for other states to invest and promote sports.” Ramkumar Subramaniam, CEO and Founder of Collage Design was quoted as saying by sportskeeda.com.

The first international series at this venue will be played between Afghanistan and Bangladesh. The stadium will act as a home venue for Afghanistan and the three-match T20I series will be played from June 3 to June 7.
