Dinesh Karthik's century leads Abahani Limited to an easy win

Indian wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik cracked a spectacular 97-ball 109 to help Abahani Limited post a formidable total of 371/5 in a Dhaka Premier League Super League game against Mohammedan Sporting Club at Savar, Bangladesh at Savar, Bangladesh.

In reply, Mohammedan Sporting could manage only 111 runs as Veteran Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib-Al-Hasan took a 5-wicket haul and were bowled out in the 25th over, giving Abahani Limited an easy win in the end.

The Tamim Iqbal-led Abahani Limited displayed a dominant performance with both bat and ball. After a brisk starts given by Iqbal and Das, Karthik came in at No. 4 and shared a strokeful 162-run stand for the third wicket with Das. In reply, only 4 Mohammedan batsmen could get to double-digit scores. Skipper Naeem Islam (32) and Mushfiqur Rahim (26) were the top two scorers.

Many Indian cricketers such as Yusuf Pathan, Manoj Tiwary and others are currently a part of Dhaka Premier League. The tournament, which is currently in progress , has seen many spectacular performances, the most recent performance being that of Pawan Negi, who scored an unbeaten 124 off just 89 balls and guided his team, the Legends of Rupganj, to a thrilling two-wicket victory over Victoria Sporting Club by hitting a six off the last ball of the 49th over.

The Dhaka Premier League is a List A club cricket tournament in Bangladesh, that has been going on every year since the 1974-75 season. It is played on a round-robin basis, with 12 teams vying for the number one spot. The Indians cricketers are mainly participating in the List A tournament in order to extend their cricket careers. Most of the name presently playing the tournament are either out of contention for a place in the national side or have little chances of getting enough chances in the IPL.
