As the Ranji season concludes, there has been a lot of discrepancies with regards to payments to domestic cricketers. While many players have received part payments from their state boards, none of them have received their share from BCCI’s total gross revenue.

Ever since the new reforms brought in by Justice Lodha, there has been a lot of conflicts amongst state units. There hasn’t been a general body meeting since the Committee of Administrators took charge of the operations. Thus, nothing has been decided regarding the share of players. Even Aditya Tare and Parvez Rasool raised their concern over the same.

As far as MCA is concerned, we have paid our players what we owe them but we are yet to receive the Board’s money

The state boards and associations have got no idea regarding the situation that surrounds them. Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) joint secretary Unmesh Khanvilkar asserted that the players will receive their full payment once the AGM is conducted. However, they were clueless as to when it would take place.

“The players have not received money from the Board. I have been told players will receive their full payment once the AGM takes place. But we don’t know when the AGM will happen. As far as MCA is concerned we have paid our players what we owe them but we are yet to receive the Board’s money,” he was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

As professional cricketers, we should get what we deserve at the right time

Mumbai Skipper Aditya Tare too wasn’t pleased with the ongoing situation. He felt that as professional cricketers, their dues should be fulfilled at the right time. Further stating that not every player gets to play the IPL, many of them were unaware as to what amount they’ll make in a particular year.

“As professional cricketers, we should get what we deserve at the right time. Domestic cricketers are often forgotten when it comes to payments. Very few players bag IPL contracts, which is normally sufficient for that particular season. But many who work equally hard are just playing on the domestic circuit without knowing when and what amount they will make that year,” he said.

Jammu and Kashmir cricketer Parvez Rasool has stated that they haven’t received money from the home association and BCCI for the last three years. “We stay in five-star hotels across India for our domestic games. But the players have to spend their own money for food. We haven’t even got daily allowance over the last three years. Forget the BCCI revenue money.”
