A fitness camp was recently organised by the BCCI where only the selectors at the NCA and players who are in the scheme of things for the T20 World Cup 2022 were invited. Among the notable names, Prithvi Shaw has gone under the scanner for not being able to clear the Yo-Yo Test benchmark of 16.5. It has been noted that Shaw scored less than 15 in the Test which was highly surprising but will be available to play for the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022.

Shaw has been out of the Indian side since some time was last seen in international action in the limited-overs series in Sri Lanka last year. The 22-year-old had a terrific IPL in 2021 and was retained ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction by the Delhi franchise. However, he wasn’t at his best in the three Ranji Trophy games for Mumbai.

You are creating your own Karma: Prithvi Shaw

Shaw shared a message for his critics on his Instagram story, stating not to judge him without knowing the complete story. He seemed quite confident that he will make a strong comeback soon. Meanwhile, a source had also mentioned that Shaw’s fitness would have been hampered by playing three back to back Ranji games and noted that the Yo-Yo Test score will not stop him from playing in IPL.

“Please don’t judge me when you don’t know my situation. You are creating your own Karma,” Shaw’s Instagram story read.

“These are just fitness updates. Obviously, it doesn’t stop Prithvi from playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL. It’s just a fitness parameter and not the be-all and end-all… Look, he has played three Ranji matches back-to-back. Once you play three first-class games on the bounce, the fatigue can also affect your Yo-Yo score,” a source was quoted by Hindustan Times.

Hardik Pandya, who was also in the Indian camp at NCA, cleared the Yo-Yo Test with flying colours and it will be interesting to see if he gets back in the Indian squad once the IPL 2022 ends on May 29.
