'Don’t like all this tinkering' - Michael Vaughan on India's changes for 3rd T20I

Team India made a series of changes for the final T20I game against England at Trent Bridge, with the inclusion of a young fast bowling sensation Umran Malik being among the changes. But the omission of in-form Bhuvneshwar Kumar has evoked opinions from several former cricketers including Zaheer Khan and Michael Vaughan.

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan criticized the absence of the Indian veteran pacer from the final T20I. He stated that unless there is some issue with the likes of Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar, there was no need to rest the in-form players. The Englishman further went on to say that the England batters, especially Jos Buttler and Jason Roy, will be happy to see the absence of the swing bowler from the team.

“Jason Roy and Jos Buttler can breathe easy when they come out to bat today as they don’t have to face Bhuvneshwar Kumar. I am surprised they have gone with so many changes. From a player’s perspective, you wanna play, you want to be in form. Bhuvi is in form, Hardik is in form. If Hardik has some issue with his body, then it is a different conversation. I would never do that. I am looking forward to Umran Malik, but I don’t like all this tinkering in the modern game,” Vaughan told Cricbuzz.

‘Game time for Bhuvneshwar could have been big’: Zaheer Khan

The Indian team management rested senior bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Yuzvendra Chahal in the final match of the three-match series in favor of Umran Malik, Avesh Khan, and Ravi Bishnoi. While the changes to the squad were expected by many, India could’ve continued with Bhuvneshwar in the match as he was the pick of the Indian bowlers in the first two matches.

“You have to use the strengths that put you here in the first place. Everyone took notice of him (Umran Malik) because he was running hard and bowling quickly. Look at these three stumps, run in as hard as possible, bowl in as hard as possible. I still felt Bhuvneshwar Kumar could have continued because he was in good nick. He is not been playing consistently so game time for him could have been big,” Zaheer added.
