With the Australian selectors ramping up their search for a spinner in the country, Adam Zampa is certainly one of the most prominent contenders. In addition to the fact that he is the go-to spinner for the Aussies at the moment, it also seems quite clear that the 24-year old Zampa is one of the few who will be boarding the plane to India.

Moreover, given Zampa’s experience with the ball in India having played for the Rising Pune Super Giants, he will definitely be a part of the limited-overs’ squad at the very least. However, speaking ahead of the first ODI against Pakistan, Zampa went on to state that Ravi Ashwin does not bowl his other deliveries in the nets to Steve Smith.

Zampa went on to state that Ashwin was someone who only bowls only leg-spinners to the overseas players in the Indian Premier League while bowling in the nets. Moreover, he went on to add that someone like Ashwin who has a lot of variations would like to guard them for a time when he would have to bowl to Smith in the international level.

That would certainly seem to be the case when Australia will make the tour upwards to the Indian subcontinent in the coming months. Zampa finally concluded by stating that Ashwin was a bowler who did not like to give too much away.

“I think the way Ashwin bowled in the nets, you ask someone like Smithy (Smith) or guys that you can tell he’s going to come up against in international cricket. I think there was one net session to Smithy where he just bowled leggies for an hour,” Zampa was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.

“I don’t think he (Ashwin) wants to give too much away,” the leggie added.
