Afghanistan’s vice-captain and Sunrisers Hyderabad’s leggie Rashid Khan has had a memorable Indian Premier League thus far. The 18-year-old has taken the tournament by storm with his mesmerizing display of leg-spin. The leggie struck in his very first over in only his first IPL game picking up the crucial wicket of the Royal Challengers opener Mandeep Singh.

The Sunrisers paid four crores for the service of the leggie, who hails from the terror affected Nangarhar Province situated in East of Afghanistan. Even by his standards, the leggie did not expect that he would be given an opportunity in the Opening game of the tenth season of the IPL. He has gone from strength to strength in cementing his place in the playing XI displacing the likes of the other foreigners in the team.

The leggie also went on to become the purple cap owner after his fantastic display of spin bowling against Gujarat’s strong batting line-up boasting the likes of Suresh Raina, Aaron Finch and Brendon McCullum. The match went on to prove the confidence instilled in him by the owners of the Sunrisers franchise.

The leg-spinner had his share of controversy in the recently concluded IPL game against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. In the 15th over of the chase, the leggie threw the ball angrily at the striker’s end where Krunal Pandya was in red hot form leading to a loud roar of boo’s from the crowd for the Afghanistani.

Despite the loss at the hands of the Mumbai Indians, the Sunrisers leggie had a moment which he would cherish throughout his life. The leggie met the legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar, who is serving as the mentor for the Mumbai Indians. The 18-year-old had his share of fanboying when he clicked a selfie with the batsman.
