Delhi Daredevils opener for the match, Sanju Samson claimed that the dropped catch of Robin Uthappa when he was on 9 cost them the match. Samson cited it as the prime reason for Delhi’s defeat against the Kolkata Knight Riders. This is their fourth consecutive defeat on the trot as they languish at the bottom of the table

Sanju Samson started the day off in a perfect way for himself and his team by scoring a crisp 60-off 38 balls at a strike-rate of 157. He scored four fours and three sixes. He was ably supported by Shreyas Iyer who chipped in with a vital 47. However, the platform was ready for the finishers of Daredevils to make full use of the position they were in at the end of 14 overs.

But the likes of Morris, Pant and Anderson failed to make use of the platform. Effective death bowling did not make DD’s task easier. Daredevils ended up with a total of 160. However, the Daredevils were at the receiving end of the Gambhir-Uthappa show as they sealed a 7 wicket victory for the home side.

Daredevils had their moments on the field to capitalise on. The highlight being the dropped catch of an in-form Robin Uthappa. Due to lack of communication between Amit Mishra and Sanju Samson, Robin Uthappa was given a life which eventually turned out to be costly.

“Catches do count. Catches win matches and there was a dropped chance and he (Uthappa) made use of it. I think that cost us the match” said the young batsman from Kerala according to Business Standard.

“It’s a busy crowd here lot of noise, so it’s not easy to communicate when the ball goes up. It happens in a match but I think we need to move on. we have a match day after. We have to forget it and move on” further added the ex-Rajasthan Royal player.

“I think I am still learning. I am a 22-year-old and have a long career ahead. I need to finish games and need to play the whole 20 overs. Whenever you play 20 overs, the team has the best chances to win. I am trying for that. When you play a sport like cricket failure is more than success. We all as sportsmen know how to come back from failures.” continued the hard-hitting batsman.

He concluded by directing at a renowned proverb of ‘Failures are the pillars of Success’. “So I think we need to keep going as life. In life also we have failures. We all have doubts but we need a positive mindset. We need to challenge ourselves and move on positively,” concluded Samson.
