The fifth and final ODI between England and Australia will be played at Old Trafford in Manchester. The series has already been sealed with a scoreline of 4-0 in favour of the hosts. Tim Paine and his boys haven’t had it easy versus the number one ranked ODI team and have stumbled throughout the first four matches. There have been pieces of individual brilliance from the side.
However, the Aussies have faltered to perform as a unit that has turned out to be a major deterrent in their journey. In the last encounter in Chester-le-Street, the likes of Shaun Marsh and Aaron Finch lifted their team to a formidable score, but yet another time, the belligerent English batsman made a mockery of the score and traced it down without dropping much sweat.
The Yellow Army hasn’t had an auspicious 2018 with the ball-tampering scandal coupled with indifferent performances on the cricket pitch marring their reputation. Paine is leading the national team for the maiden time and he has the task to keep the players rejuvenated, which won’t be a cakewalk following the thumpings in recent times owing to various reasons.
Will rain play spoilsport?
As per reports in Accuweather, the weather is expected to be cool throughout the day. At 11 am, the temperature is expected to be 20 degrees and is speculated to hover around that mark till the end of play, which is assumed to be around 6:30 pm Local Time. The skies will also be hazy, but the good news comes in the form that there is no probability of rain at any stage.
The players are expected to find a cool ambience during the match with the temperature on the lower side. As far as the match is concerned, it’s expected to be another high-scoring one as the batsmen on both sides have been in decent form, especially England.
