England suffered a massive blow ahead of the second Test match against India after news has come in that veteran pacer Stuart Broad has been ruled out of the second Test. Broad reportedly has injured his calf, and as a result, will not be available for the second Test match that will take place at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground.

Broad had also not taken part in the training session that took place on 10th August 2021. The pace bowling legend will undergo a scan on 11th August 2021, and will not take the field for Joe Root and his men in the second Test.

In place of Stuart Broad, Mark Wood will most likely take the field for England when the second Test gets underway on 12th August 2021.

Stuart Broad has played 149 Test matches for England

Stuart Broad is one of the greatest pace bowlers in the history of Test match cricket. The right-arm pace bowling veteran has featured in a whopping 149 Test matches. He is the 6th highest wicket-taker in the history of Test match cricket and has taken a colossal 524 wickets in the whites for his country.

In his illustrious career that has spanned a decade and a half, Broad has also picked up 18 five-wicket hauls and 3 ten-wicket hauls in the longest format of the game.

The England cricket team has added all-rounder Moeen Ali and pacer Saqib Mahmood to their squad ahead of the second rubber. Also, spinner Dom Bess has been left out of the England Test squad as well.

Stuart Broad could only scalp one wicket in the first Test at Nottingham. While he went wicketless in the first innings after bowling 20 overs and conceding 70 runs, the pacer scalped the wicket of KL Rahul in the Indian second innings.

The first Test match between England and India ended in a draw after rain played spoilsport on the final day at Nottingham, and both teams will enter the second Test with the series level at 0-0.
