Injuries continue to trouble England pacer Jofra Archer as he has been ruled out of the rest of the season due to a stress fracture to his lower back. He has been away from competitive cricket since July 2021 when he played in the T20 Blast for Sussex. However, after missing the action for more than nine months, Archer was slated to make a comeback in the upcoming T20 Blast season later this month. However, the latest injury has once again ruled him out of action.

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed the development in its press release while also stating that there is no timeframe set for the fast bowler’s comeback as of now. The board will also take an opinion of a specialist in this case.

“After being diagnosed with a stress fracture to the lower back, England and Sussex seamer Jofra Archer has been ruled out for the rest of the season. No timeframe has been set for his return. A management plan will be determined following further specialist opinion over the coming days,” ECB’s statement read.

Jofra Archer was confident about making a comeback not so long ago and was also looking forward to featuring in England’s upcoming summer at some stage. However, the plans have gone haywire now and England will be hoping for him to get fit for the T20 World Cup later this year to be played in Australia.

Mumbai Indians have one eye on Jofra Archer’s fitness

Interestingly, Jofra Archer’s fitness is also linked to the five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians who secured his services for INR 8 crore in the mega auction despite knowing that he won’t be available for the 2022 season. However, it was guaranteed that the pace bowler will play the 2023 season. With the 27-year-old getting ruled out of the action yet again, the franchise will certainly be worried now.
