Ajinkya Rahane reveals the X-factor of the Indian team for the upcoming series

After a breathtaking contest in the limited-overs leg of the series between England and India, both the teams are now ready to battle it out in the longest format of the game. The No 1 Test side will be taking on the host England team in a 5-match series, starting with the first Test match from August 1 at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

The Indian Test team vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane addressed the media yesterday after the practice sessions, where he talked about a number of things about the different combinations which the team management is working out for the first Test match and he also revealed the x-factor of the team for the upcoming series.

Who is the X-factor in the Indian team to challenge England in their own yard?

Rahane revealed that the chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav is definitely the x-factor in the Indian team for the upcoming Test series. He mentioned about the wrist spinner’s impressive performance in the limited overs series in the British countryside. Kuldeep has had a sensational time in England so far, starting with his five-wicket haul in the first T20I match.

He continued his superb form with the ball in the ODI series as well, as he picked up a six-wicket haul in the first ODI at Trent Bridge. The left-arm wrist spinner claimed 14 wickets in the limited-overs leg of his maiden England tour, as most of the English batters failed to solve the mystery of the Indian bowler. Rahane also noted that they will be choosing the best possible combination for the first Test match only after having a look at the pitch conditions and the nature of the wicket.

“He is definitely an X-factor in our team. He bowled really well in the ODIs and T20Is. We will have to see how the wickets will be like tomorrow and day after. I’m not sure about the combination, ” said Rahane on Kuldeep’s tricky selection possibility for the first Test match as quoted by TOI.
