India and England will be locking horns in the five-match Test series commencing on August 1 in Birmingham. They will play a three-day warm-up game against Essex in Chelmsford starting from Wednesday and are expected to get hold of the conditions in the United Kingdom. However, the visitors will be thrilled to see their premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah back on the ground who was injured earlier on the tour.

The fast bowler injured his finger while fielding off his own bowling in the first T20 International against Ireland and since then hasn’t played a single game. He also underwent the surgery in England and returned home for rehabilitation. Bumrah though was named in the Test squad as the BCCI was confident of him getting fit for the second Test match.

Bumrah’s Instagram update

Jasprit Bumrah himself posted an update about his injury on his official Instagram handle on Tuesday as he was set to start training for the upcoming series. This comes as a good news for India who are already missing Bhuvneshwar Kumar who will not be seen in the Tests due to his back issues.

Bumrah’s fingers were still covered though as he must have tried to bowl at full tilt in the nets.”It feels good to get back to doing what I love to do. Cheers #ukbound,” he wrote in his post.

Team India will need his services after his sensational debut against South Africa in January. He was the pick of the bowlers for them with 14 wickets in 3 matches and proved that he has the potential to lead the bowling attack going forward in the near future.

Despite starting the training it remains unlikely that Bumrah will feature in the practice match against Essex. There is no point in rushing to the conclusion as the series is likely to take a toll on everyone as it progresses.
