England are hosting India in the rescheduled fifth Test match of the five-match series, that got underway last year. However, the rain gods haven’t been kind to the cricketing fans as the Edgbaston Test has seen several interruptions due to rain. After losing almost an hour and a half of play on the opening day, the second day got even worse as only 38.5 overs were possible.

India posted a commanding total of 416 runs on the board after making a sensational comeback from being five down with just 98 runs on the board. Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja broke the back of the English bowlers on the opening day with a remarkable 222-run stand for the sixth wicket, before stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah embarrassed Stuart Broad in a record-breaking 35 run over.

Batting hasn’t been easy for the hosts either as the Indian bowlers hit the ground running from the get-go. The frequent rain interruptions didn’t make their task any easy as they had constant lapses of concentration due to frequent rain breaks. But the Indian pacers won’t complain about the break in play as they got ample time to replenish during the lengthy rain interruptions throughout the day.

After three prolonged rain interruptions, England were dealt a massive blow as their star batter Joe Root was dismissed by Mohammed Siraj. England are staring down the barrel after losing five of their batters at the score of 84. A lot rides on the shoulders of inspirational skipper Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow, who will need a miraculous recovery of their own in the match.

Here’s a look at the weather forecast for the ENG vs IND clash on Day 3:

Predicting the English weather is one of the most difficult jobs, but the weather forecast for the third day is much better than the previous one. Although clouds will be looming during the early part of the day, only a light shower is expected around 1 pm, as per weather.com. The sun will be out after 2 pm with a bit of cloud around the corner but we can expect a nearly full day’s play on Day 3.
