Attacking English opener Jason Roy has made a name for himself in international cricket. He has plundered runs at will at the top order at a brisk rate. Roy came into the side after England’s lackluster performance in the 2015 World Cup. He has been an integral part of the face of their new brand of cricket. His big moments arrived in the ICC World T20 2016 last year in India.

He hammered a 16-ball 43 at the Wankhede Stadium to help England chase down what looked like an improbable 230. Later, he hit a blazing 78 in the semi-finals against the Kiwis to consolidate his claim as the next big hitter in world cricket. Now, he is with the English side that is touring India for the limited overs series.

Coming back to India, he will have his eyes on the coveted cash rich T20 league – the Indian Premier League. Jason Roy recently plied his trade for the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League in four matches. He has set his eyes on the IPL now.

He will get into the auction pool on February 4 along with fellow English players Ben Stokes, Alex Hales and Eoin Morgan. As per the quotes in Dailymail, Jason Roy mentioned that he wants to see if he gets picked by an franchise. I am going to go into the auction to see if someone picks me. Last year I didn’t as I wanted to play in the County Championship, and score some runs to try to push my claims for Test cricket,” he quoted.

It is not just the shortest format of the game that the English opener fancies. He also remarked that his ultimate aim is to play Test cricket for England. He quoted it as his ambition and said he is ready to bat at any position.

“I really want to play Test cricket, obviously. It has always been an ambition of mine and I have been trying to do as much as I can over the past few years to further my claim. Whatever number they want me, I would be prepared to do it. I guess you just have to be patient and make sure you are putting the scores out there to be considered,” said Jason Roy.

He further added that it is not the easiest of the tasks to switch between different formats of the game. But he has been working on it and has been quite successful in his endeavor thus far.

“It is obviously not the easiest thing to adapt two different games – the one day and T20 stuff against the four day stuff – but that is something I have learned to do, and do successfully, over the last couple of years,” he conceded.
