Former India skipper MS Dhoni announced his decision to retire from international cricket through an Instagram post on Saturday. With the song ‘Mai pal do pal ka shayar hoon’, Dhoni signed off in style. The video depicted his international journey with the Indian cricket team.

In a career spanning over 90 Tests, 350 ODIs and 98 T20Is, Dhoni scored more than 15,000 international runs. Apart from proving his worth in batting and wicketkeeping, ‘Mahi’ etched his name as one of the most successful skippers of India.

While Dhoni gave many iconic moments to Indian cricket, no fan can forget the sight of Dhoni smashing the 2011 World Cup-winning six off Nuwan Kulasekara at the Wankhede. Yuvraj, who was at the non-striker’s end, was ecstatic at that moment, along with millions of fans.

On the contrary, Dhoni was at the non-striker’s end when Yuvraj smoked Stuart Broad for 6 sixes in an over in the inaugural T20 World Cup in South Africa. Yuvraj and Dhoni, on and off the field, have reminisced many victorious moments together. Both players had played an instrumental role in the two showpiece events.

Yuvraj Singh wished Dhoni on a great career

Upon Dhoni’s retirement, Yuvraj, like millions of fans, penned down a touching message for Dhoni along with sharing a video. The video was a compilation of all their memories while donning the national jersey. Yuvraj wished Dhoni on having a great career and pointed out that he enjoyed lifting the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup trophies with the Ranchi stalwart.

“Congratulations @msdhoni on a great career! Enjoyed lifting the 2007 and 2011 WC trophies together for our country and our many partnerships on the field. My best wishes to you for the future” wrote Yuvraj.

Yuvraj, on 10th June last year, had also announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. In a career spanning over 304 ODIs, 58 T20Is, and 40 Tests, Yuvraj won hearts of millions of fans with his explosive batting, handy bowling and agile fielding.

Dhoni, meanwhile, will depart for UAE along with his Chennai Super Kings’ teammates on August 21st. He is currently involved in the training camp at MA Chidambaram stadium– the home ground of the Chennai franchise. Along with Dhoni, Suresh Raina also stunned the world by announcing his international retirement on 15th August. Both the CSK stalwarts will be seen in the thirteenth edition of the IPL, scheduled to start from September 19th.
