World No. 1 ODI team England is all set to take on Scotland in the one-off One Day International on 10th June, Sunday at Grange Cricket Club, Edinburgh. The English side also is currently rated as one of the favourites for the upcoming 2019 World Cup. With the mega tournament on the way, the skipper Eoin Morgan is busy finding the right batting order.

The Britishers are yet to win a 50-over World Cup and this will their best chance to grab one as they are the ones who will be hosting the tournament. The current side boasts of a massive batting line-up right from Jason Roy to Moeen Ali. They have four opening options at the moment with Roy, Bairstow, Hales and Billings showing rich form in the recent times.

Morgan ready to test the batting order

The skipper Eoin Morgan is ready to test the batting order. Their usual opener Alex Hales will take the No. 3 slot to give his opening position to Johnny Bairstow alongside Jason Roy. If this combination clicks for the English side, they will be a force to reckon with in the mega tournament.

“Alex [Hales] is playing. He will bat at three, he did really well in Australia when we were there and then in the deciding game when Jason [Roy] went down in Christchurch in New Zealand. I thought he played exceptionally well. There’s huge competition for places in the side and we are spoilt for batsmen,” said Morgan as quoted by Cricbuzz.

The side is already having three wicket-keepers, who are in superb form right from Jonny Bairstow to Billings and Jos Buttler. Morgan went on to hail Sam Billings, who is eager to make it to the team. He had a decent IPL for the champion CSK side in the 2018 season. Morgan will most likely test him in the middle-order, where he score good amount of runs for CSK.

“It’s always difficult. We are spoilt for three keepers. And they are all very good batsmen. Jonny has been in unbelievable form at the top of the order, and Jos is just world class. And Sam [Billings] has been trying to get into the side for the last 2-3 years. He’s been to the IPL and Big Bash, and he’s impressed in both the tournaments,” added Morgan.
