Team India skipper Virat Kohli has been in a rampaging form in the recent times. He recently thrashed the Sri Lankan bowlers in the Nagpur Test to notch up his fifth double ton in Test cricket. The century was a record-breaking one in many senses. Kohli’s supreme run with the bat is not restricted to only Test cricket. He has been equally good with the bat in the limited overs cricket as well.

Virat Kohli is the only cricketer in the world cricket to average over 50 in all forms of the game. Amidst this backdrop, it comes as no surprise that he is a crowd favorite. Moreover, the point of discussion that always surrounds Virat Kohli is his gross annual income. While it is not possible to predict a correct figure, the reports in NewsBytesApp.com tried to estimate his net earnings per year. Virat was recently ranked 7th in the Forbes’ List of 10 Most Valuable Athletes. He was ranked above the likes of Lionel Messi.

Earnings from International cricket

Considering the fee structure of the BCCI, Virat comes in the Grade A cricketers. The BCCI pays the highest match fees in the world cricket. It also pays the cricketers 26 per cent of its gross revenue.

Hence, Kohli’s income from international cricket can be estimated to be – match fees of $23,380 (Rs. 15L), $9,337 (Rs. 6L), and $4,676 (Rs. 3L) for international tests, ODIs and T20s respectively. Also, being the captain, he gets his additional share too. He earns $1 million annually from international cricket.

Highest paid cricketer in the IPL

Considering the domestic cricket, Virat Kohli is the highest paid cricketer in the IPL. He receives INR 15 crore ($2,26 million) from the IPL.

Brand endorsements

Lastly, there comes the brand endorsements. He is the most preferred face for many big time brands. Kohli charges INR 5 crore ($775,000) for his endorsements. Recently, he had signed an 8-year deal with Puma worth INR 110 crore ($15 million) – which approximates to $1.875 million yearly. ESPN puts Kohli’s total endorsements at $17.4 million, although it’s unclear whether the valuation is annual or cumulative.
