England’s long wait for winning the World Cup title came to an end when the Three Lions beat New Zealand in the Final at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. After 102 overs to awe-inspiring action on the pitch, at least runs couldn’t separate the hosts and the Black Caps. It eventually came down to the number of boundaries where Eoin Morgan & Co were ahead by a fair distance.

In the mandatory 100 overs, the teams ended with 241 runs each. Thereafter, the Super Over ended in a tie as well with both the sides, scoring 15 runs each. Martin Guptill’s run-out on the last ball of the one-over eliminator brought the curtains down on the closely fought contest. The Kiwis had to return empty-handed one more time after their disappointment in the final of the 2015 World Cup.

England, on the other hand, qualified for the final of the mega event for the first time since 1992 when Imran Khan’s Pakistan beat them. Following the victory at the Home of Cricket, the English team was showered with praises from the cricketing fraternity. Even the Queen wrote for the national team, expressing her delight after the stupendous victory at the renowned venue.

Eoin Morgan ecstatic by the fan’s move

In the meantime, a fan took a heartfelt step and dedicated something special to the 32-year-old Ireland born Morgan. A man by the name James Bridgland was blessed with a baby boy in the morning on July 17. James named the newborn baby after the victorious English supporter to ensure that ‘Sunday’s events are remembered even more often’

The supporter uploaded an adorable picture of his newborn baby. He tagged Morgan and wrote, “@Eoin16 please meet Henry Eoin Morgan-Bridgland, born today at 11am. Just to ensure Sunday’s events are remembered even more often!,”

Here is the fan’s tweet:

After the gesture, Morgan was definitely filled with glee and happiness. He is currently oozing pride following England’s dream run in the tournament and a supporter, naming his son after him, is only a cherry on the cake. The English skipper replied to the tweet and wrote, “That’s very cool. Congratulations.”
