Barely after a day the critics slammed the position of MS Dhoni in the shortest format of the game, the former skipper seems to have found some support from his fans. Fans of MS Dhoni started trending the hashtag of #WeStandByDhoni soon after the haters had trended #DhoniDropped a day ago. Things started getting grim for the man from Ranchi in the last few months.

His below average run in the shortest format of the game raised quite a few eyebrows. Earlier this year, Dhoni was replaced as the captain of the Rising Pune Supergiant franchise in the IPL. Also, his recent performances in the tournament have been far from being impressive. All of this has contributed to several questions being raised over his role in the side.

Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly also came out with bold statements about MS Dhoni recently. He remarked that albeit Dhoni is a great player, he has always struggled in the T20 format. He doubted the credibility of Dhoni in the shortest format of the game. Former Australian skipper Michael Clarke also voiced his concerns over the same lines. He went to say that Dhoni needs to perform in order to keep his place in the side.

Amidst this scenario, the trend of #DhoniDropped started to rule the social media last day. All those who felt that the concerns raised by the likes of Ganguly are true, started tweeting against MS Dhoni. There were a few who even doubted his position in the Indian team for the Champions Trophy. The tag went trending and certainly disappointed the fans of the former skipper.

His fans found an ideal way to hit back at the haters. They started trending the hashtag of #WeStandByDhoni and posted a host number of tweets in the favor of the only captain to have won all the major ICC Trophies. Here are the top tweets from that hashtag:
