Indian captain Virat Kohli is a favorite wherever he goes. And thus it was no surprise that the 28-year-old was mobbed by fans outside the local hospital in Ranchi where he was taken for an examination of his right shoulder. Kohli was well protected by armed security and was safely escorted to the car from the hospital.
The Delhi-born batsman was greeted by chants of his name, but in the video, he is seen rushing towards his car and avoiding being caught in an unwanted situation involving the fans waiting there. Kohli had injured his shoulder on Thursday, the first day of the third Test between India and Australia in the 40th over of the Australian innings, after hurting his right shoulder when he uneasily landed near the mid-on boundary rope in his attempt to save a boundary from Peter Handscomb.
He was then taken to the hospital after the end of the day’s play where a scan revealed a “strain” and BCCI thereafter confirmed in its statement that the injury was not serious.
A twitter handle by the user name of Yash Chawla uploaded a video of the fan mob outside the hospital. That video further prompted former England captain Michael Vaughan to draw a comparison between Kohli and Premier League footballers.

The hosts trail the tourists by 331 runs at stumps on Day 2 of the Ranchi Test. In-form opener KL Rahul played a brilliant knock of 67 runs and Murali Vijay who played second fiddle in their 91-run opening stand remained unbeaten on 42 off 122 balls. And in all likeliness, Virat Kohli will be back to the field tomorrow since his injury is said to be minor. Before the start of the second day’s play, he was seen interacting with the team members in the nets but didn’t practice.
The Indian skipper has played many crucial knocks for India and won many matches single-handedly. The love he is getting from the fans is thus well-deserved.
