Both teams have faced each other in five games so far in the tournament and have won two matches each.

Wicketkeeper-batter Phil Salt will lead the Originals this year. The team picked James Anderson as their wildcard player, and he is likely to make his debut in The Hundred. Marchant de Lange, who was also signed as a wildcard player, has been ruled out of the tournament due to an injury. He has been replaced by Farhan Ahmed in the squad. The team also roped in Mark Chapman for four games as a cover for Rachin Ravindra. Ravindra will be back after playing for the Blackcaps.

James Vince will captain the Brave this season. Jofra Archer is the centrally contracted player in the squad. Faf du Plessis will miss the season this time as he will undergo groin surgery and has been replaced by Jason Roy. Finn Allen, Michael Bracewell, and Hilton Cartwright are the three overseas players in the squad.
