New Zealand (NZ) face the West Indies (WI) in the second ODI at Napier. New Zealand kicked off the ODI series in a positive manner, winning against the West Indies by seven runs in a tightly contested game. After scoring 269-7 in the first inning, they held the visitors to only 262-6 to take the series lead. Daryl Mitchell struck a brilliant 119 off 118, and Devon Conway made 49 from 58 to set things up, before Michael Bracewell’s 35 from 52 balls and Zakary Foulkes’ 22 not out from 16 guided them to a par total.

The West Indies had some positive moments in the first ODI, but they struggled against New Zealand as the match tightened. Sherfane Rutherford scored a spirited 55 from 61 balls, with Shai Hope and Justin Greaves both hitting thirty-fives. However, there was no one who could keep up long enough to lead the chase further.

Pitch Report

The pitch at McLean Park is batting-friendly, allowing batters to hit some good shots. The ball will come nicely on the bat, and teams can score freely after the first few overs. Pacers will get some early momentum, but overall, the pitch would favor the batter, so a high-scoring game can be expected.
