Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC) will lock horns with Paarl Royals (PR) in the 30th match of the SA20 2024 at St George’s Park in Gqeberha on February 4. Sunrisers Eastern Cape have managed to win six of their nine games and are ranked second, while Paarl Royals were able to win five of their nine games and occupied the third place.

Both these teams had played against each other in their last game, which was played at the Boland Park in Paarl, where Sunrisers Eastern Cape had won the toss and elected to bat. The decision seemed to go the other way as they started slowly. Dawid Malan could not keep for long and could only score two runs. However, the fall of the wicket increased the rate of flow of runs. Started by Tom Abell and then taken up by Marco Jansen, they thrashed the opposition bowlers with the finishing touch added by Stubbs, they posted a huge total of 208 runs on the board.

Paarl Royals had a huge target ahead of them and they needed to start well if they wanted to chase this total down. They were successful in doing so with Jason Roy and Jos Buttler, both looking in sublime touch. The opening stand stood for 68 runs in 7.3 overs and was followed by a good second-wicket partnership as well. Buttler reached his fifty in style but he did not receive much support from the other end after that. Batters kept coming and going at regular intervals due to which they could only score 164 and lost the game by 44 runs.
