Cricket is indeed a game of certainty as the course of the contest can change at any moment. Over the years, we have witnessed many instances of the game turning on its head unexpectedly. While sometimes it happens due to spectacular performances, mistakes of players also had a fair share of role in these turnarounds.
Sometimes the blunders were so shocking that fans were left in splits. A similar incident took place in the ongoing Al-Wakeel Cricket League, which bagged a lot of attention and subsequently, become the talk of the town in the cricket world. The hilarious incident took place in the end moments of the game between Audionic and AutoMall when the fielder of the former team had a brain fade moment.
Chasing 155 in their allotted 20 overs, AutoMall needed five runs off the last delivery and a six seemed the only chance of their victory. Nevertheless, the bowler only needed to bowl a legal delivery and restrict the batter from collecting maximum runs. While AutoMall had just two wickets in hand, Raheel A.Maje, who had played a couple of big shots was on strike. As Raheel was playing on nine off four deliveries, tension must have been on Audionic camp.

However, the right-arm pacer bowled a brilliant yorker-length delivery, restricting the on-strike batter from going downtown. The ball went to the long-off region where a fielder was placed to collect the ball. At this moment, the game seemed over. However, the fielder, instead of passing the ball to one end, ran towards the pitch to dislodge the bails himself.
Meanwhile, AutoMall batters remained optimistic as they continued running despite seeing the fielder collecting the ball and advancing towards the stump. They might have expected a gaffe which eventually took place. The fielder dislodged the stumps at the non-striker’s end when the batter was already inside the crease.
With nothing to lose, the Automall batters went for another and the fielder, while trying to hit the stumps at the striker’s end, made an overthrow. This hilarious fielding blunder helped the batters collect five runs off the very last ball. While the Automall players was ecstatic, the fielding side couldn’t digest what happened.
