Rishabh Pant has been on a roll this year and would like to continue his sensational run in the second installment of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. The southpaw would definitely be confident ahead of the UAE leg as Delhi Capitals enjoyed a sensational run in the first half. With five wins in seven games, DC were at the top of the team standings at the time of season suspension.

Pant was also among the runs in the first half and the opposition bowlers must beware of him. Meanwhile, the wicketkeeper-batsman addressed the media ahead of his side’s first game of the UAE leg and answered many queries. On being asked about the biggest learning from MS Dhoni, Pant said the former Indian captain taught him to focus without worrying about results.

“Biggest learning is to focus on the process and results will follow. That’s one of the biggest mantras that I have been following for a while now and it helps,” Pant was quoted as saying by timesnownews.com.

Pant, who’s backed as Dhoni’s successor, is a huge admirer of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain. Time and again, the 23-year-old has heaped praises on his idol and it would be interesting to see if he can full Dhoni’s shoes or not. Meanwhile, Pant also lauded DC head coach Ricky Ponting by calling him one of the wisest cricketing brains in the world.

I have learned from Ricky Ponting that you have to treat everyone equally: Rishabh Pant

“I have learned from Ricky that you have to treat everyone equally in the team. From junior players to senior players to coach, if you respect everyone in the team, it will be a good combination. When you start respecting players and the support staff around you, special things happen,” said Pant.

“When you respect them, they are going to give whatever they have for you. That’s what you want as a skipper – for the team to stand for you each and every time,” he added. Meanwhile, DC will resume their campaign against bottom-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday (September 22).
