Former Rajasthan Royals Co-owner Raj Kundra has filed a petition in Supreme Court hoping to overturn the ban imposed on him by BCCI. The Delhi Police have given him a clean chit after failing to find any pieces of evidence against him in this who fiasco and Kundra now wishes to overturn the ban imposed on him by the BCCI.
He clearly stated that the RTI has no evidence against him and he has nothing to do with betting. Kundra said he trusts the judicial system of Indian and hoped that the truth will prevail eventually. He confirmed that the petition has been filed and they are waiting to know the date of hearing.
“We have filed an application under RTI to Delhi police seeking whether there’s any evidence against me on the alleged betting. The answer we got against the RTI is that they have no evidence against me, and I have nothing to do with betting. The RTI is available to all of you. Even you can file an RTI and see it,” the 42-year-old said.
Betting should be legalized: Kundra
Talking about the ban imposed on him, he said it was very painful to carry that burden. He also mentioned that he fell prey being the poorest of all the other team owners in the league. He said that he loves the game very much and is passionate about it. Instead of crying over what has happened, Mr. Kundra said he’s looking forward to what can be done.
“It was horrible. When you get blamed for something you haven’t done, it brings collateral damage. I was the easiest prey as I was the poorest of the eight-team owners. They had evidence against everyone else, they didn’t have evidence against me. It was very painful. You must have seen how passionate I’ve been… You cannot fake those emotions. I don’t want to cry over spilled milk,” he said.
He also raised a point that betting should be legalized in the country just the way it happens in countries like UK and Australia. He said that legalizing betting will bring a lot of money on the table for the government in the form of taxes and there’s no way betting can stop. He also estimated that betting is a 4-5000 Crore worth industry and the Government should seize control here.
“In this country, it’s about time that they legalize betting because the amount of money that is being spent under the table,” he said. I guarantee you 80 percent of this country will stop watching cricket if they did not bet on a match. Every single person bets I am sorry to say.
“It would be foolish to say that betting does not happen. There is a list of 4-5,000 crore industry that happens on every match and it’s about time we legalize it and start taxing it, making money where we should” he concluded.
