Veteran Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir is one of the most expressive cricketers in the world cricket. Be it on the field, or be it off the field, Gambhir’s responses are always candid. Whenever the paparazzi have thrown in a question at the southpaw, not only has he answered them with utmost honesty, but also has given proper justifications for his claims.

Recently, as per the quotes in Sportswallah, Gautam Gambhir was asked to pick a bowler who he feels is the fiercest that he has ever faced in world cricket. The Kolkata Knight Riders skipper took very little time to take the name of South African pacer Morne Morkel. He added that it was this very reason why he roped in the services of Morkel in his IPL team.

Gambhir and Morkel have shared the dressing room in the Kolkata Knight Riders camp in the Indian Premier League. The two players seem to have great camaraderie between them. Gambhir has always backed Morkel as his premier pacer on the KKR roster.

“Morne Morkel is the fiercest bowler I have ever faced. That’s why we got him in KKR as well. I thought he was the toughest bowler I faced. Even when he was playing for Delhi. Every time I faced him, I wish we had him in our team. And the moment he was released, I said Morne Morkel,” remarked Gautam Gambhir.

Backing his instincts

This is not the first time when Gambhir has picked a particular bowler and hailed him as the best in his vision. Earlier, during the IPL this year, he had justified the signing of New Zealand pacer Trent Boult in the Kolkata Knight Riders camp. He had remarked that Boult is the toughest left arm bowler in world cricket at the moment along with Australia’s Mitchell Starc.
