Captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders Gautam Gambhir feels the Delhi Daredevils made the best picks in the IPL auction this year. Gambhir said that the Daredevils are going to be a good side this season because of their bowling attack. In a recent conversation with The Quint, Gambhir spoke at length about the various propositions of the IPL 10. When asked about the team that made the best choices in the IPL auctions, the name was very clear in his mind.

“I think Delhi. We keep criticizing Delhi about their picks but I feel they have done a really good job in this IPL auction. They have a very good bowling attack,” quoted Gautam Gambhir. Delhi spent a total of Rs. 14.05 crore this year in acquiring the services of some promising international players. The pick of the lot was South African’s Kagiso Rabada. The Proteas pacer was bought for a whopping Rs. 5 crore. Rabada is currently one of the most consistent pacers in world cricket and will add that spark in Delhi’s bowling attack.

Young chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav made the news this season when he scalped 4/68 in his debut Test innings. He drew a lot of praises from all corners. However, if Gambhir is to be believed, the need of the moment is to leave Kuldeep alone.

“We should leave him alone. I think we should not be talking too much about him because he is a young player and we should not be putting too much pressure on him,” he quoted.

The KKR skipper was then asked about the best pick his franchise made at the IPL auctions this year. Without a doubt, Gambhir had a quick name as his answer. He picked New Zealand seamer Trent Boult as the best pick for the Knights. He remarked Boult as the best left arm pacer at the moment in the tournament.

“Boult. I guess Trent Boult is the best left arm seamer, maybe after Mitchell Starc, that I have ever played. Whenever I have faced Trent Boult, I feel he is the best left arm seamer. He can swing the ball up front at 140-145,” answered Gambhir when asked about the best buy at the auctions.

KKR have won the tournament twice and are looking to register their third title win. If they manage to do so, they will become the first team to win the tournament thrice. Gambhir rightly reflected that everytime he goes on the field, he tries to get the best results. He also hopes to lead from the front in the IPL 2017.

“Want to go out there and win. That is what you play the game for and that is what you play the tournament for. It becomes an incentive. If we win it this time, we become the first team to win it three times. Really looking forward that we can just personally get the best out of (us) and I can perform well as well because as a leader you want to go out there and lead from the front,” Gautam Gambhir conceded.
