Veteran Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir has put his weight in team India’s corner ahead of the upcoming tour of South Africa. Gambhir, who has been ignored for the tour, believes that the Indian team will give a stiff competition to the Proteas in their own backyard. He admitted that the tour will be tough considering the top class bowling that the South African side has.

In order to beat them, the Indian team will have to play out of their skins. However, the fact that the Indian team has played so much of cricket in the recent times, and have tasted so much of success, they should carry their confidence forward.

“It’s going to be a tough tour because South Africa is a very good side especially in their own backyard. They have got quality bowling, they have got quality batting. India really has to play well to beat them. I hope they have got the confidence from what they have done in the last two years. Even if they have played the bulk of their cricket at home, they should go to South Africa with a lot of confidence, a lot of belief as the no.1 Test side and I hope they can deliver there,” quoted Gautam Gambhir as per the quotes in India TV News.

Number 1 side should win

Speaking further on the same note, Gautam Gambhir reckoned that if the Indian team claims to be the number one side, then they should justify the tag. The number one ranked side must win in every condition. He hopes that the Indian team will play the same way in which they have played at home in the recent times.

“Ultimately, the no.1 side should be able to win in every condition. I hope India continues the same form what they have shown at home,” remarked the veteran cricketer.
