Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians have had a topsy-turvy experience so far in their IPL 2020 journey. The defending champions lost their opening game of the tournament against Chennai Super Kings. They, however, bounced back in the next game and thumped Kolkata Knight Riders by 49 runs.

But in the third game, MI again suffered a setback as they lost against Royal Challengers Bangalore by the narrowest of margins. After MI and RCB posted equal number of runs on the scoreboard, the fate of the match was decided by a Super Over, where the Mumbai side was able to gather just 7 runs. In reply, the Virat Kohli-AB de Villiers duo hunted down the target on the last delivery bowled by Jasprit Bumrah.

While chasing 201 runs in the second innings, MI’s Ishan Kishan and Kieron Pollard put in the hard work but they were unable to steer their side past the finishing line, leading to the encounter going into a Super Over.

Talking about the bowling unit of the Mumbai Paltan, Trent Boult, one of their key pacers, has failed to prove his worth in the tournament so far. In three games, the Kiwi pacer has been able to pluck only five wickets. Boult’s inability to deliver his best has been one of the key reasons behind MI’s unimpressive show in the UAE.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai franchise, on Wednesday, shared a picture of Boult and Shane Bond, in the Mumbai Indians training session. In the caption, they wrote– “Which kind of delivery is being discussed here?”

MI’s Chris Lynn, one of the most explosive openers of the shortest format, dropped a hilarious comment on the picture as he wrote, “Slot Ball”. Boult also didn’t hold back to take a dig at Lynn as he responded with, “Get us a water brah”

Boult was referring to Lynn’s oust from the side’s Playing XI. Since the start of IPL 2020, Lynn has failed to pave his way into the starting squad of MI. In the presence of Quinton de Kock and skipper Rohit Sharma, Lynn has been warming the bench. Rubbing salt on Lynn’s wounds, Boult gave him a fitting reply in the comment section.

After suffering a defeat against RCB, MI are next slated to lock horns with KL Rahul-led Kings XI Punjab tomorrow on 1st October in Abu Dhabi.
