Glenn Maxwell joins Lancashire for the 2019 season

He will represent them in all the three formats.

Glenn Maxwell, the Australian all-rounder, joined Lancashire County Cricket Club and is all set to play for the club in 2019 and represent them in all three formats. Lancashire made the announcement of Maxwell’s induction and the 30-year-old will participate in the Royal London One-Day Cup, T20 Blast and also in the major part of the County Championship games for the club.

It was earlier confirmed that Joe Burns, the right-handed opening batsman from the Australian continent, will also be available for ten matches of Lancashire’s County Championship Division Two campaign in the next season Having made his international debut against Afghanistan in 2012, Maxwell has so far played 87 ODIs and 57 T20Is wearing the Baggy Green and 7 Test matches as well.

He had monstrous success in the 2014 Indian Premier League (IPL) season wherein he scored 552 runs at an average of 35.50 and ended us as the third highest run-getter in the tournament.

Win-Win Situation for Lancashire and Maxwell

Lancashire’s Director of Cricket, Paul Allott said: “Glenn is one of the most exciting cricketers in the world and we’re really looking forward to him joining Lancashire next year. As a destructive batsman, an outstanding fielder and an effective off-spin bowler, he is going to play an important role in our side where he’ll be able to contribute in all facets of the game.”

Allott also added that it would be a great opportunity for the youngsters in the Lancashire team as they get to learn so much from an experienced campaigner like Maxwell. He further said, “As a player and as a person, Glenn embodies what we’re trying to achieve at Lancashire Cricket. He’s an incredibly committed, ambitious and passionate individual and he will fit into our side seamlessly.”

Maxwell expressed his excitement to be a part of a massive club like Lancashire in the next season. He said, “I have really enjoyed my spells in England before and I’m determined to put in some match winning performances for Lancashire in all three formats of the game. Coming over to England early next year will also help me acclimatise to conditions ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup which I am incredibly excited about.
