The sixth day of the league witnessed a low-scoring game

After a day-off, the action resumed in the Global T20 Canada. Just one game was played on the sixth day of the tournament. The Montreal Tigers faced off against the Edmonton Royals and the game was quite a low-scoring one.

It was the Montreal Tigers who held their nerves in the tough situations to win their first ever game in the tournament. The Tigers won the game by 16 runs on the board. Hence, they moved up to the fifth position in the points table from the last position. The Winnipeg Hawks continue to be at the top position on the points table.

Montreal Tigers vs Edmonton Royals – Match 9, Round 1

Edmonton Royals’ skipper Sohail Tanvir opted to bowl first after winning the toss. His side did decently well in the first innings. The openers Dwayne Smith and Sunil Narine were dismissed for 8 and 9 runs respectively early on in the innings. Further, George Worker was also dismissed for just 7 runs by Wayne Parnell. The Tigers were in all sorts of trouble after being down to 30/3. However, almost a run-a-ball half-century from Moises Henriques and contributions from Sikandar Raza and Najibullah helped them get to 129 runs for the loss of 6 wickets after 20 overs.

It seemed very easy for the Royals to chase this target down. Further, Luke Ronchi with 30 off 19 got the side off to a good start. However, the Tigers’ bowlers kept picking wickets at regular intervals maintaining the pressure on the batsmen. Peter Siddle, who was a tad off in his first over, came back and bowled a magical spell. He picked 4 wickets in the innings. Further, with the help of Lasith Malinga and Kevon Cooper, who picked 2 wickets each, the Tigers bowled the Royals out for 113 runs with 20 overs.
