During the series against Sri Lanka series in October, Pakistani off-spinner Mohammed Hafeez was banned from bowling after the ICC declared his action suspect. This was the third time that the 37-year-old was reported and banned from bowling in international cricket by the ICC. He was first suspended in 2014 from bowling because of the suspect bowling action when reported by the match officials.

In a press release, ICC said “Hafeez’s bowling action will now be scrutinized further under the ICC illegal bowling action regulations. He is required to undergo testing within 14 days, and, during this period, Hafeez is permitted to continue bowling in international cricket until the results of the assessments are known.”

Hafeez had said that “I am confident of clearing this test as it went well and I bowled four overs. I am sure I will be cleared to bowl again in international cricket. I myself want to contribute as an allrounder to the Pakistan team.”

PCB later had made an announced that the bowling review panel at the NCA will work out a plan to make sure the off-spinner can continue bowling in the international matches. As per some sources, Mohammed Hafeez had requested earlier that the PCB should help him correcting his action with an expert. The PCB’s review panel from the NCA has not worked out on anything yet.

Hafeez has made a request to the PCB that he be allowed to work with Carl Crow or Saqlain Mushtaq. He has worked with the two earlier as well. The same source said, “Hafeez wants to work with Carl Crow or Saqlain Mushtaq, both have worked with him in the past. PCB has suggested biomechanics expert Paul Hurrion will work with Hafeez.”

As per now, there hasn’t been any decision made by the PCB as Mohammed Hafeez awaits the final decision on his request. “Mohammad Hafeez is eagerly waiting to hear from PCB on a final decision regarding the roadmap to work on his bowling action,” the source said.
