The Indian captain Virat Kohli is the best batsman in the world hands down in the longest format of the game. But when it comes to the limited-overs format, especially ODIs, there is a tussle between him and Rohit Sharma. Both have been exceptional, to say the least, and are first and second respectively in the ICC ODI rankings as well. Harbhajan Singh was asked to pick a better batsman between the duo and he felt it is extremely tough to separate them at the moment.

Kohli has so far amassed 10533 runs in 222 One-Day Internationals so far with a massive 39 centuries to his name. Once the Indian skipper crossed the 50-run mark, he has seldom missed out on reaching the three-figures and the standard has been set for him now. Rohit’s ODI career, on the other hand, took a decisive turn in 2013 during the Champions Trophy when he was surprisingly promoted as an opener.

Since then, the Indian vice-captain has been phenomenal raking up runs for fun. Currently, he averages 47.61 in 201 ODIs scoring 7808 runs with 22 centuries out of which three are double tons. His ability to clear the boundary is extraordinary and is a gifted cricketer when it comes to hitting the ball cleanly.

Bhajji weighs his opinion

Harbhajan Singh, while speaking to India Today, termed the task of picking the best batsman between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as a tricky one. He clearly denied to do so and instead, highlighted the way they have taken the Indian cricket forward.

“That’s a tricky question. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are tremendous players and both are match-winners. Both are class players and their records speak for themselves. Rohit Sharma is supremely talented while Virat Kohli is a hard-working cricketer.

“Maybe, Kohli is not as talented at Rohit but his hard work and passion have taken him to where he is right now. So, it’s tough for me to pick who’s a better batsman. I will not be able to answer this question. But both play for India, that’s what matters,” Bhajji said.
