Hardik Pandya doing well is good for Team India: Harbhajan Singh

After getting involved in the controversy in Koffee With Karan, Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya made a comeback into the national team in the third ODI against New Zealand at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. He got a couple of important wickets in that game that would’ve given him confidence. He faltered in Hamilton but came into his own in the final match at the Westpac Stadium in Wellington.

The 25-year-old came to bat in the fag end of the Indian innings and he came up with a quickfire knock of 45 runs from 22 balls with five hits over the ropes. The Baroda cricketer also picked up two wickets during the Black Caps’ run-chase. In the meantime, Indian off-break bowler Harbhajan Singh believes that Pandya doing well in all the departments is a positive sign for India.

“Hardik was fantastic with the bat and of course with the ball. I am so glad to see the kind of form he is in. He put the controversy aside. He made sure that nobody talks about his cricket. I am so glad that he is performing really well and he is a very, very important member of the Indian team.

I am happy for him. He is delivering with the bat and ball and these are good signs for Team India,” Harbhajan was quoted as saying in India Today.

Ambati Rayudu has been a tad inconsistent off late. Nevertheless, he managed to impress against the Kiwis. The Guntur-born notched a couple of half-centuries in Mount Maunganui and then went on to rack up 90 runs in Wellington. Harbhajan also sounded happy with Rayudu’s performance.

“Ambati Rayudu has always been a class player. He has got the temperament to score runs in big games and I am really happy with his progress in international cricket. I am so glad he performed really well today. I hope he continues to work hard on his game,” he added.
