After the recent victory against Kolkata Knight Riders on their own turf, co-owner of Rising Pune Supergiant, Harsh Goenka highlighted the efforts of some players who were instrumental in their recent victories, naming the likes of Rahul Tripathi, skipper Steve Smith along with the bowlers who have made an impact but there was no mention of MS Dhoni.
Earlier this year, the decision makers of Rising Pune Supergiant sacked Dhoni as captain and handed over the responsibility to Smith. The move surprised on and all. Harsh received a lot of backlash due to a tweet he posted after the match-winning performance of their captain Smith against the Mumbai Indians. His tweet backed their decision of sacking Dhoni as he posted, “Steve Smith proves who is the real king of the jungle. Overshadows Dhoni totally. Captain’s innings. Great move to appoint him as captain”.
A few weeks later, Rising Pune Supergiant found themselves in an indifferent situation from last year as they lost 3 of their first five matches. However, it was MS Dhoni’s inning against Sunrisers which sparked a revival of the Pune-based franchise. After the former skipper’s match-winning knock, Goenka sheepishly lauded the efforts and tweeted,”Masterful innings by Dhoni. Great to see him back in form. Nobody can be a greater finisher. Takes @RPSupergiants to a nail-biting win.”

The Supergiant team is in red-hot form at the moment as they superseded top teams from the bottom half of the table, to place themselves at the number 3 position in the points table and the elation of the co-owner can be predicted with his tweet last night as he named all the heroes in their team who were responsible for some important victories in the recent matches.
That said, there is still no mention of MS Dhoni as he praised Steve Smith, Ben Stokes, Rahul Tripathi and Imran Tahir. He tweeted, “Great thing about #RPS – a new hero every game -Tripathi, Stokes, Smith, Tahir. Peaking at the right time.”
