Australian opener David Warner was recently criticised for his choice of words in describing the upcoming clash between England and Australia. Warner used words such as “war” and “rivalry” to describe the rivalry and spinner, Nathan Lyon went on to state that their team from the Down Under are on their way to put an end to some English cricketer’s careers by the time the series gets over.
However, commentator and cricketing expert Harsha Bhogle nonchalantly dismissed all this banter as a kiddish affair. In his recent tweet, he questioned the general audience as to if they find the trash-talk preceding the Ashes to be childish. He further stressed on the fact that in the game of Cricket, the only rivalry exists on the cricketing field where teams can outdo each other in terms of skill and talent.
Here’s what Harsha Bhogle tweeted:
Anyone else finds this pre-Ashes trash-the-opposition talk childish? In cricket there is only ever one contest…..and that is on the field.

In contrast to the current Australian team’s tone, former players such as Shane Warne and Michael Clarke have opined England to be the favourites in the upcoming edition of the Ashes. Clarke has also stated that this can turn out to be a good chance for Steve Smith and his men to put their best foot forward and prove their worth against England.
