Popular English football club Arsenal is going through a very tough time in the ongoing soccer season. They are hoping to finish in the top four Premier League teams this season. But their recent defeat has made things tougher for them. Amidst this backdrop, they have become the butt of all jokes on the social media.

And now, veteran Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin, and renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle have taken divided stands in their opinions for the soccer club. While the latter was very critical about his thoughts on Arsenal, the former showed some serious empathy for the struggling camp. The interaction between the two was seen on the social media.

Harsha Bhogle took to micro blogging site Twitter to express his opinions on the football club. He remarked that Arsenal is getting a lot more headlines then it actually deserves because of it’s poor show in the season.

Here is what Harsha Bhogle tweeted:

For a football club that is really a no 5/no 6 club and which, at best, could aspire for no 4, Arsenal gets a lot of media attention. Maybe even more next year when they have to have a new manager,” tweeted Harsha Bhogle.

Ashwin’s response

Ravichandran Ashwin certainly did not like the way Harsha Bhogle acted harsh on the renowned club. Ashwin, in his tweet, certainly hinted that he too might be an Arsenal fan. Ashwin responded to Bhogle’s tweet and commented that all teams go through ups and downs in major tournaments. And the team is certainly not as bad as the tweet suggests.

“Oh no. Arsenal ain’t so bad Harsha, all teams go through ups and downs,” Ravichandran Ashwin wrote in his tweet.

Talking about the club, Arsenal’s poor run in the season continued with their recent 0-3 defeat against the Manchester City in the League Cup Final on Sunday. The only way they can now hope to qualify for the Champions League next season is if they win the Europa League in the coming season.

However, that remains a tough ask considering the fact that the likes of Atletico Madrid and Lyon are in the race too. The next fixture for Arsenal is against the Italian club AC Milan n the round of 16 of Europa Cup (first leg) on March 8.
